Blood Donation, Malaysian Style
But for the life of me, dah 8 tahun aku balik Malaysia tapi info of blood donors di Malaysia masih tak dicomputerizedkan lagi. Maybe it has, but kenapa still give out buku merah tu? Sejak balik, aku dah ada 3 buku. And everytime aku nak guna mesti I discovered I've misplaced the book!
Kita hantar angkasawan harga berbilion ringgit, beli Soyuz lagi... Apa MAMPU masih tak mampu ka nak coordinate with the Blood Bank to computerize data of donors and then issue creditcard-size ID cards instead???
Macam at the picture kat atas tu - the kind of ID card one would get bila donate in U.K (ni masa late 90s la. Sekarang ni tak pasti mcm mana. Udi, k.Yeen, k.Ilush...care to comment??).
You walk into their Blood Bank center, tell them you nak donate blood, beri your Blood Donor card, then they zap the card kat reader, and semua data you akan keluar, including, of course, the last time you donated and what kind of donation that you did - normal blood donation ke, apheresis ke - and on top of that you can easily carry the card in your wallet whereby in the event of accident ke apa, the medical personnel dengan mudah boleh tahu your blood type and would also be aware whether or not you are eligible for special medical attention, which is an automatic privilege for blood donors.
There you go. Ni, tidak ... Setiap kali dapat buku baru, your entire history of past donations pun dah tak dapat nak dikesan. Or maybe boleh dikesan tapi kena masuk Bilik Arkib depa la kot.
A shame, really, innit?? So much shouting about progress and development, tapi benda macam ni pun tak properly managed lagi.
