And then Mr.Yoo told me his side of story…
Months before, he first came to the PRI to cure his sister. His sister had liver cancer, at a stage where his sister had to frequent Singapore for doses of chemotherapy. They’ve spent S$40k for the chemos in S’pore, when one day on the way to the hospital, a cab driver in Singapore told them about the PRI and Dr.CM in Shah Alam. So he came over to Shah Alam with his sister, which, dengan Kuasa Allah, her sister could walk again even after the 1st treatment and for only RM4k in total! Yup, empat ribu RINGGIT as compared to empat puluh ribu SING DOLLARS, ladies & gents.
And now, with God’s Will, his sister is all well and clear of cancer!
And now, he was back for his own scheduled minor op on an old injury to his neck: he couldn’t turn right, and only slightly to the left. And Dr.CM told him that his neck could be fixed up for a mere RM2k.
Soon after Mr. Yoo told me his story, at about 1.40pm the door to the theater opened and Abang was wheeled out, smiling huge. Abang looked at me, beaming, and said “Haiiiii!!!!”. Eii korang tau aku rasa macam nak peluk dia sebab lega tengok dia sengih kartun dia, and at the same time rasa nak pukul-pukul je dia sebab there I was so worried sick and kepala + mata kiri dah berdenyut-denyut and yet he was beaming happily away like as if nothing big had happened!!! Aiyoh, sabar la.
Anyhow, after Abang was settled in by a burly rough-looking male Attendant called Kalai (really nice, caring and funny guy he is, though!) in the transit room, I went in to attend Abang, sat down on the chair beside the bed, held his hand and asked his permission to cry. I sudah tak tahan woh. I needed to let the load off my chest so badly, my head was killing me. So sebelum Abang buat keputusan yang aku boleh nangis ke tak, aku terus naaaaangiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssss kat forearm dia… padan muka dia, terus Abang panic heheheheeee.
Abang pun pujuk aku, beritahu that apart from his, urm, depan tu yang sakit coz there was still the tube/catheter to let the water in his kidneys to clear off, he was all well and dandy and very very relieved and happy that the op’s over and successful.
And then we swapped stories. Then only he told me that the only thing that was painful was the tube inserted up his, urm, depan tu, for his urine to pass the remainings of the stones into a pint-bag. He told me when he heard me being called into the room, he was pretty anxious coz he didn’t want me to go panicky over him or things that I would see which in turn would make HIM panic.
He also told me that he didn’t feel any pain at all when Doc started to cut him open. He only felt the discomfort of his barang-barang being messed about. “Terasa-rasa Doc tolak-tolak tah hapa-hapa dalam badan Abang sana sini, bunyi blub blub blub.” But no pain whatsoever! And even then as he was relating me his own experience, there was still no pain at his wound, which was already was covered with dressing.
And then I told him what I saw in the theater and all. Abang also told me how it felt when Doc closed up the wound (it was this procedure that Doc kept us all out from witnessing it, you see). Abang kata, dia dapat rasa macam Doc kapit kapit kat opening tu, and then ran a kind of pisau blade in four strokes across the main cut before putting on the dressing. Haaa, yang tang macam pisau blade tu baru Abang rasa pedih. And then, plaster plaster plaster, and he was out.
Ish, we were both so in awe of what just happened that, we think, kalau kita tak percaya dengan benda-benda ghaib dalam agama, pasti boleh jadi mereng with what had just happened. Allahu a’lam.
Kalai then came in and told Abang to sip and drink up 2 litres of plain water so that Abang would pass out urine and hopefully the remaining stones along with it. So, after almost 5 small bottles of mineral bottle, Abang’s kidneys started to work… air mengalir keluar je uncontrollably. Tapi bila dah tiba akhir-akhir tu, kesian ke Abang… dalam kesakitan. Bayangkan kalau anda semua wee-wee batu. Eiii aku sendiri tak moh bayangkan. Mau pengsan. Batu 2,3 biji kecil keluar, macam dalam gambar.
Less than 3 hours afterwards, lebih kurang pukul 4pm, pint-bag Abang dah penuh, and the nurse pun took out the tube from Abang. And off we went home after paying the bills, getting the ubat, getting the advice on pantang-pantang makan minum and arranging for the next appointment, which was due the next day.
On the way back home, I had to stop 3 times for Abang to pee, dan setiap kali tu lah Abang dalam kesakitan coz saluran peepee dia luka-luka. Kesian dia!!! Jalan pun macam orang baru bersunat… sakit, kau. Tapi yang peliknya, kat tempat operate tu, tak sakit langsung!!!
(By the way, nak dibuatkan cerita, the night after Abang was operated in PRI, Nenek Klang passed on after two weeks of struggling with her kidneystones op gone awry in one of the private hospitals in Shah Alam juga… Innalillaaaah…)
And nah, ni gambar dressing luka Abang kat perut just before we went back to Shah Alam the day after the op.
The next day (Thursday), we went to see Dr.CM again, and Doc cuci luka Abang with some ubat and ganti the dressing, and asked Abang to come back to the clinic the next day (Friday) to take out the dressing.
And so I had to continue taking my Friday off to drive Abang back to PRI to take off the dressing. As you can see from the pic, tinggal luka satu garis je. Kalau kat hospital tu, dah ber zig-zag dengan stitches or berlubang-lubang maunya!
Abang’s pee-pee got worse on Friday, but got better by Saturday. Abang rested the whole day on Saturday. And by Sunday, he was well and comfortable enough to drive to the office. Deadline dia Isnin tengahari esoknya. Kesian dia. Cumanya, dalam masa 4,5 hari lepas op tu, dia cuba tak angkat benda-benda berat or bongkok-bongkok nak angkat benda yang agak weighty (seperti aku, bwahahaha) so that his internal organs heal well and quickly.
And nak dibuatkan cerita, masa tu lah TV besaq kami rosak buat hal tak keluaq gambaq tapi keluaq suara je. So, kena la akak drive balik Bangi amek spare tv 14” kat dalam bilik akak and then drive balik ke Cheras and angkat naik atas ke apartment and angkat turun the tv rosak dari lemari tv down to lantai and angkat pula tv 14" ke atas lemari then bongkok-bongkok pasang2 wiring kat belakang lemari tv segala. Nasib baik muscle akak masih ada belen lagi amid the flab. Agaknya, tu lah hikmah untuk Abang rupanya, tak kawin dengan orang kurus kedeking selim melim. Heheheheheeeeee..
Pantang larang (untuk yang op buah pinggang)? Kena makan benda lembut-lembut seperti bubur… Abang’s most despicable food (though I just loved it!). Kurus jap laki aku. Terus hensem dia terlebih sekali ganda. Hehehe.
Apart from that… tak leh makan sayur hijau (except bender and sawi), sayur menjalar or kekacang or berakar (like taugeh), santan, cendawan, cuka, kicap, telur, benda-benda jeruk or kering or masin or peram, durian, petai, caffein esp the tarik, roti putih or anythng ada yis (kalau nak makan kena toast dulu supaya yeastnya mati), etc. Apatah lagi roti canai, makanan ruji pagi Abang.
All the pantang larang are mainly to spare the patient from the painful and uncomfortable post-op flatulence. Aiyoh I tell you, ada satu ketika tu, a day after the op, Abang was so gassy that dia muntah balik makanan yang dia makan. Angin dia sampai naik ke kepala, kau. Dia jadi sejuk-sejuk. Kesian ke dia...
Alhamdulillah, 3,4 days lepas tu, dia okay lah. Tapi sampai sekarang ni dah seminggu lebih pun dia masih “huarrrrk… huarrrkkkk”, sendawa angin. Bila aku urut-urut belakang dia, aku lak yang “huarrrrk… huarrrkkkk”. Maklum, cubit peha kanan, peha kiri pasti terasa...
... to be continued.
